We’re Running on Empty
What do we do when there is nothing left to give?
Most of us were taught to meet depletion with effort. Get up earlier. Plan better. Push through until the week is over.
But there is a difference between being busy and being empty. Empty is what happens when we keep giving from a place that was never refilled, and the work keeps asking anyway.
In this two hour Practice Session we look at capacity honestly. Not as a personal failing, and not as something a calendar can solve, but as information about what we can give right now and what we cannot.
What we will look at
- What depletion actually feels like in the body, and how we explain it away
- The difference between being tired and being emptied out
- What we can give at this moment, and what is simply not available to us right now
- How depletion moves through a team and gets mistaken for attitude
- Naming our capacity out loud at work without losing credibility
- What refilling asks of us, beyond rest
Who this is for
Anyone whose work puts them close to other people. Leaders, HR and labour relations teams, union representatives, advocates, educators, and people working in health, justice and community services. You do not need a title to come.
