In person, in community. LoveBack™ retreats and Transform Your Practice trainings where we slow down, learn together and carry what we practise back into our work.
Co-facilitated by Myrna McCallum and Natalie Y. Gutiérrez, LMFT, author of The Pain We Carry. This is professional development, not a personal healing retreat and not therapy. We are not here to process your history. We are here to understand how it moves through your work, and what to do about that.
Intergenerational harm does not stay in the past, and it does not stay at home. It shows up in how we communicate, how we lead, how we handle hard conversations, what we tolerate and what we repeat. In our communities it often surfaces as lateral violence, harm passed sideways between people who are already carrying too much. Many of us are doing demanding work while living with complex trauma, and this retreat treats that as a professional reality rather than a private problem.
Over three days we work through The Pain We Carry Workbook with Natalie, while Myrna connects it to the places we spend our working lives. We look at how complex trauma operates in professional settings, how to recognise lateral violence early and interrupt it, and what repair actually asks of us with ourselves, our colleagues, our families and our communities.
You leave with language for what you have been noticing, a clearer read on your own patterns under pressure, practical strategies you can use on Monday morning, and your own copy of the workbook to keep working with long after Royston.
Get Your Tickets →Belonging is where psychological safety begins, not where it ends. What matters just as much is whether we feel safe to learn out loud, to contribute what we actually think, to collaborate without guarding ourselves, and to challenge the way things have always been done.
Over two days, drawing on Timothy R. Clark’s four stages of psychological safety, we look at how power moves through a team, what happens in our nervous systems during conflict, how to build teams where getting it wrong is invited, and the steps it takes to repair when trust has been broken.
You will leave with a 30-day plan for going back to work: one practice to start, one pattern to interrupt, and a clear way to tell whether the shift is working.
Breakfast and lunch are included on both days. Whistler accommodations fill early, so we encourage you to book your stay as soon as you register.

LoveBack™ participant“Myrna put on such an amazing course, the best I’ve ever been to. I cannot wait to go to more in the future and to connect again!”
LoveBack™ participant“I loved loved loved this course. It was so nice to focus on ourselves rather than focusing on how we, as Indigenous people, can make everyone else feel better.”
LoveBack™ participant“I found the reframing of how we look at conflict so helpful. While many of the concepts I knew from before (i.e., trauma responses), the way Myrna weaved the different concepts together and in the context of conflict was new to me. I learned so much from Myrna and her insights from the slides, as well as from the group discussions she so thoughtfully led. I enjoyed the intimate and informal nature of the workshops. Myrna has a remarkable ability to foster an environment of accountability without judgment.”
Transform Your Practice participant“Myrna has a way of shining light on difficult and uncomfortable topics such as the unearned ease of privilege and the slippery slope of extractive practice. I learnt a lot.”
Transform Your Practice participant“Myrna brings her signature authenticity and insightfulness to the Transform Your Practice workshops. These are not your typical workshops where you get provided information without any sense of how to apply it to your practice. Through collaborative discussions led by Myrna, Myrna helps bridge the gap between knowing information and how to apply it to make meaningful change in how we approach our practice. Myrna’s workshops both challenged me and inspired me to keep going.”
